PRE WORKSHOP TASKS

With the goal of using our limited time at ISTE, workshop attendees should complete some steps to be technically ready to create apps with App Inventor.

Group Collaboration  https://todaysmeet.com/AI2

Please complete the following tasks before the workshop.

1. If you don’t already have one, you need to sign up for a Google account. App Inventor is hosted in the cloud, and a Google account is necessary for authentication.

2. Verify that you can log into http://ai2.appinventor.mit.edu with your Google account.

3. If you have your own Android device, install the MIT AI2 Companion App on it. If you don't have an Android device, we will lend you one during the workshop.

4. Install the Mac or Windows App Inventor 2 setup package. This installs the Android emulator and the ability to communicate with Android devices via a USB tether. Although at the workshop we plan to use real Android devices connected to your laptops via wireless, USB connections are a backup plan if something goes wrong with wireless.

Genymotion has been adopted as a superior Emulator to test your APK files. It does not run synchronously with Ai2 like MIT's Emulator. Follow These directions to install.

You're now ready for the workshop!
